This season holds particular significance as the Vélodrome National recently hosted the track cycling events at the Olympic Games Paris 2024. Fans might witness the return of GB’s world-record-setting team sprint gold medallists, Emma Finucane, Sophie Capewell, and Katie Marchant competing for individual glory as well as Olympic gold medallists Ellesse Andrews (New Zealand), Harrie Lavreysen (Netherlands), and Matthew Richardson, who recently announced a significant career shift to join the GB Cycling Team.
The Vélodrome National de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines kicks off a series of five back-to-back rounds. Following Paris, the Netherlands’ Omnisport Apeldoorn will host rounds 2 and 3 on November 29th and 30th, while London’s Lee Valley VeloPark will be the venue for round 4 and the Grand Finale on December 6th and 7th. Tickets for the London rounds are also available HERE and information on purchasing tickets for the new Apeldoorn event will be announced soon. In the meantime, you can join the waiting list HERE to be notified as soon as tickets for Apeldoorn become available.
Last season saw a thrilling evening of UCI Track Champions League action in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines as Dylan Bibic (Canada) moved to the top of the Men's Endurance standings by winning both the Scratch and Elimination races in front of a packed crowd. Harrie Lavreysen (Netherlands), Ellesse Andrews (New Zealand) and Katie Archibald (Great Britain) were also celebrating at the end of a night of intense competition after successfully defending their leads in the Men’s Sprint, Women's Sprint and Women's Endurance competitions respectively.
Victory here appeared to be a good omen, as all four athletes went on to secure the overall titles. Now it is the first round of the season, and athletes will be going all out for the perfect start.
