Last week was packed full of track cycling action, with the UCI Track Nations Cup taking place in Cairo and the AusCycling Track National Championships also occurring in Brisbane.

At the UCI Track Nations Cup, Harrie Lavreysen proved as strong as ever, with the 26 year old winning the Team Sprint alongside Jeffrey Hoogland in the Men’s Team Sprint, and then edging out Israel’s Mikhail Yakolev to claim the Men’s Sprint crown.

Fellow UCI Track Champions League stars Jennifer Valente (USA) and Emma Finacune (Great Britain) also enjoyed their time in the Egyptian capital, with Valente winning the Elimination Race and Finacune outpacing British compatriot Sophie Capewell to triumph in the Women’s Sprint.

In Australia, Matthew Richardson and Chloe Moran both continued their strong starts to the season with the duo claiming five gold medals between them at the AusCycling Track National Championships.

Richardson got the better of fellow TCL rider Thomas Cornish in the Men’s Sprint final, and then backed that up by beating Cornish once again in the final of the Men’s Keirin.

Although Cornish wasn’t able to secure a national title over the five days of competition, the 23 year old also earned himself a silver medal in the Men’s Time Trial, and helped New South Wales to a bronze medal in the Team Sprint.

Moran meanwhile, began her winning run by forming part the South Australia quartet of who emerged triumphant in the Team Pursuit, and then romped to victory herself in the Points Race final before making it a hat-trick of successes with her solo win in the Scratch Race.
