Richardson Matthew

biographie

Matthew Richardson (b. 1999) is an Australian track cyclist who specialises in the Sprint events at the UCI Track Champions League. Richardson grew up in the UK until the age of nine when he moved to Western Australia. As a child, Richardson was a gymnast until an elbow injury ruled him out of action and his interest turned to cycling.

Matthew quickly rose through the ranks and in 2019 earned himself a place on Cycling Australia’s Podium Potential Academy.

2022 has been a breakthrough year for him. In July he won two Commonwealth Games gold medals in the Men’s Sprint and Team Sprint events, and then took his first Tissot UCI Track World Championships title in the Team Sprint. If that wasn’t enough, he also wrapped up an Individual Sprint silver medal in the process.
