Following on from the announcement of the 2022 UCI Track Champions League Calendar, we will be delving deeper into the 4 locations hosting each round this season. Today we will be taking a closer look at the host for round three; the Vélodrome National de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines which will be welcoming the series on November 26th in Paris, France.

This flagship venue of the French Cycling Federation is among the largest in the world, sitting at eight metres wide and 250 metres long. It was built in 2014 over a two year period, and is the second velodrome in the series designed by famous German architect, Ralph Schurmann. With the track’s classic Siberian Pine Panelling, and steep gradients reaching 42.2 degrees, we can expect a mesmerising showcase of class and speed.

Located in the Parisian suburbs, the Vélodrome National de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines is the only Olympic standard venue in the country. With cycling being deeply rooted in the culture of France, the infectious energy from the 5001 seats and 6,043 max capacity crowd looks sure to radiate onto the track, creating a thrilling atmosphere not to be missed.

The velodrome is no stranger to high standards, from hosting the UEC Track Cycling European Championships, the 2015 World Championships, to being the stage for the world-record set by 102 year old, Robert Marchand. Testament to the venue’s class, the track will be the stage of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, as well as the World Championships later this year.

Bruce Goldsztejn, Marketing et Communication Velodrome National de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines said: “It is an honour to organise the french round of UCI Track Champions League, one of the most impressive track cycling events in the world. It meets our objectives to make ‘sportainment’, innovate, showcase and develop territorial marketing around track cycling. We had to offer a new kind of event to our customers in terms of performance, entertainment and services. UCI TCL is the answer!”

French Track Cyclist Tom Derache said: “Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines Velodrome is French sprinters headquarters. This velodrome has something special, add to that the atmosphere of the UCI Track Champions League – it will be crazy!”
