Florian Pavia, Series Director of the UCI Track Champions League, said: “The atmosphere has been electric every time we have visited London in the last two seasons, and with a sell-out crowd for the Grand Finale confirmed once again on 11th November, that’s sure to be the case this year as well, and we couldn’t be happier.
“Not only are the British fans very knowledgeable about the sport, they also get behind every rider who’s competing, and that support definitely inspires them to produce their very best performances on the track. If anyone has missed out on the Saturday night, there are still tickets available for the Friday night, but we recommend acting fast to avoid disappointment.”
Jonathan Day, Sport and Participation Director of British Cycling, said: “The demand for tickets at this year’s London rounds of the UCI Track Champions League is testament to the growing popularity and reputation of the event both here in the UK and overseas.
“Few places can rival the raucous energy of the Lee Valley Velodrome, which has played host to so many golden British cycling moments over the past 12 years, and we’re looking forward to welcoming the world’s best back to these iconic boards once again November.”
Last season’s Grand Finale saw an incredible night of action as Australia’s Matthew Richardson edged out Dutchman Harrie Lavreysen to win the Men’s Sprint competition, while Claudio Imhof (Switzerland) claimed the Men’s Endurance title by the very tightest of margins. France’s Mathilde Gros also reigned supreme in the Women’s Sprint, while Jennifer Valente (USA) wrapped up the Women’s Endurance title ahead of home favourite Katie Archibald (Great Britain).
