The multiplatform Claro Sports will offer live coverage of the Union Cycliste Internationale’s innovative track cycling series for a second successive season.

The UCI Track Champions League has confirmed that the multiplatform Claro Sports will return to broadcast its 2022 season.

Claro Sports joins a host of international broadcast partners that are being announced before the second UCI Track Champions League campaign commences in Mallorca on Saturday 12 November.

Claro Sports – which broadcasts to millions of viewers in 17 Latin American countries – will offer live coverage and highlights of all five rounds.

As an Olympic Games rights holder in Latin America, their coverage will build a narrative path towards Paris 2024 as viewers follow the progress of the UCI Track Champions League’s 72 riders – many of whom will be battling it out for medals.

The agreement was reached with Discovery Sports Events, who are global promoters of the UCI Track Champions League and part of Warner Bros. Discovery.

Last season the UCI Track Champions League reached 149 million viewers in 206 countries, with over 62 hours of programming, fulfilling its ambition of putting track cycling on the global stage and attracting a new, international audience.

Four Latin American athletes have already been confirmed for the 2022 UCI Track Champions League. Colombian Martha Bayona Pineda will be vying for a place on the podium after finishing fourth overall in the Women’s Sprint competition last season, while her compatriot Kevin Quintero will also be back in action after impressing in the Men’s Sprint competition, where he earned top-three finishes in both the Panevėžys and London rounds. Fellow Colombian Santiago Ramírez and Mexico’s Daniela Gaxiola – who can boast no-less than 12 Pan American Championships wins between them – are both set to make their debuts.

François Ribeiro, Head of Discovery Sports Events said: “The popularity of cycling in Latin America has grown massively in recent years and that makes it an important market for the UCI Track Champions League. With Claro Sports returning as a key partner, it will ensure the series is not only delivered to the region’s dedicated track cycling fans, but also to new fans who’ll be watching the sport for the very first time.

José Antonio Aboumrad, Director of Claro Sports and Marca Claro said: “It is very important for Claro Sports to transmit high-level competitions through our multiplatform, and there are many thousands of cycling fans in Latin America who will enjoy the high level of competition that the UCI Track Champions League provides. We are always pleased to be able to offer our audience sporting events like this which offer such excellent quality.”

The 2022 UCI Track Champions League will once again see the world’s best riders battling it out across five rounds in four countries.
