Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe has confirmed that Round 3 of the UCI Track Champions League will take place at the Vélodrome National de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines in 2023, with CIC announced as title sponsor for this particular round.

The venue – located 25 kilometres outside of Paris and set to host the track cycling events at the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games – is back for the second UCI Track Champions League season in a row with the action taking place on Saturday 4th November.

The Vélodrome National de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines is the second venue to be unveiled for the third season, with London’s Lee Valley VeloPark already confirmed as hosting Rounds 4 and 5 on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th November. The dates and locations of the remaining two rounds will be announced in the coming weeks.

Florian Pavia, Series Director of the UCI Track Champions League, said: “Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines proved to be an incredible venue in its first UCI Track Champions League appearance last season and we’re thrilled to be going back there in November. Already regarded as one of the best velodromes in the world, Round 3 will have added significance this season as it’ll be the last chance many of the world’s best riders will have to compete on it before the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games take place there in August next year. We’re looking forward to a special night.”

David Lappartient, UCI President, said: “I am delighted the Vélodrome National will once again provide the stage for a round of the UCI Track Champions League. Last year’s round in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines was a fantastic success and we can again expect great things less than a year out from the track events of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games taking place in the same velodrome.”

Mathilde Gros, Women’s Sprint winner in 2022, said: Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines feels like home to me and I am so happy it is back on the UCI Track Champions League calendar in 2023. Racing there last year was one of the highlights of my season because I competed well and received some unbelievable support. I’m already looking forward to getting back on the track there, and with the Olympic Games now on the horizon, everyone is going to be bringing their A-game.”

Bruce Goldsztejn, Marketing and Communications Manager at the Vélodrome National de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, said: ““One year before the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games – and for the second time in a row – the Vélodrome National will host the UCI Track Champions League, the best track cycling event in the world.

“The Vélodrome National is an iconic venue for Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines and hosting the UCI Track Champions League increases its profile even further. The series pushes the boundaries of competition, technology and entertainment, and we are delighted to be hosting Round 3 on Saturday 4th November.”
